Karthik Sivakumar is the younger son of veteran actor Sivakumar and brother of leading actor Surya Sivakumar. He rose to fame after he debuted in Paruthiveeran, where he received a Filmfare Best Tamil Male Debut Award and Filmfare Best Actor Award.
Early in his career Mani Rathnam had wanted him to act in Aayitha Ezhuthu but Karthik rejected the offer.
His dream was to become a director but when Ameer, the well acclaimed director approached him to play the hero in his new film Paruthiveeran, Karthi accepted the offer. He was cast opposite actress Priya Mani in Paruthiveeran. now, He is currently acting in Aayirathil Oruvan directed by Selvaraghavan.
The other film he announced was “Paiyya“, “Neeyum Naanum“.
