Prince of Persia: The Sand of Times movie is a successful adaptation of a popular video game and when I say successful, I really mean it. The film is not just any other movie adaptation of video games that we have seen in the recent past, that were more boring and largely dissatisfactory. Released by Walt Disney, the film has everything big, right from the picturisation of great Moroccan desert, to ostrich race and even to high class sword action. The film has everything, adventure, thrill, excitement, story, action and fine star cast.
All the central characters of the film Prince of Persia movie, strive hard to obtain the magical jeweled dagger whose protector is princess Tamina played by Gemma Arterton. The dagger has the power to take its owner to the future and predict and control it. Prince of Persia, Dastan, played by Jake Gyllenhaal accidentally stumbles upon the dagger without knowing it’s powers and later joins Tamina in her quest to protect it from the evil hands of Nizam, played by Ben Kingsley who wants to use it to go back to the past so that he could snatch the thorn and become the Sultan of Persia.
Prince of Persia story is captivating with great inputs by other supporting artists. It has magical action with cobras that are Hassassin’s pets who want to snatch the daggers on Nizam’s orders from Tamina and Dastan. It has whirlwind of sands in the desert, set in this Middle Eastern fantasy. The film scores high on its amazing visuals and CGI scenes. You will be recalled of hard hitting action sequences of Indiana Jones, The Mummy and many other mystical action movies released in the past.
Prince of Persia ratings are good four stars for its great characterization, amazing plot, awesome graphics of the desert that is largely shot in studios in Britain and above all a decent adaptation of a successful video games story.
