Happy fathers’ day to  all!

June 21st, is celebrated as Fathers’ day this year. The day is dedicated to all doting fathers who love to see their children grow up into very independent and successful persons.

When it comes to movies, many an actor and actress has been lucky enough to have a father who has guided them in turbulent times and also helped them to stand up for themselves. Fathers really know how to discipline their children and help then gain a clear perspective on many issues. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Owner Shah Rukh Khan (srk) fires John Buchanan

knight-ridersKolkata Knight Riders  sacked controversial Australian coach John Buchanan after their poor performance in the recent Indian Premier League.

The Kolkata team finished last in the eight-team IPL in South Africa last month, losing 10 of their 14 league matches. It took KKR’s owners a little more than three weeks after the end of the second edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to make the decision. The instructions to let go off Mr Buchanan came from Mr Khan through an email communique. The actor is in the US where he is shooting for his next film.

The KKR franchise was bought for $75 million by SRK, Jai Mehta and Juhi Chawla. It was one of the only two teams that turned in a profit in the first season of the IPL.  KKR has been the most-valued team of the IPL with a brand value of $42.1 million, according to UK-based consultancy Brand Finance.

Now Buchanan is set for a coaching role with England ahead of the Ashes series against Australia. Earlier Buchanan left the Australia job after the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies as elite cricket’s most successful coach, with a winning record of 70 percent after becoming national coach in 1999.

The International Indian Film Academy(IIFA)- Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shines with IIFA Awards

jodhaa-akbar-8Almost Around 500 Bollywood personalities and an 8,000-strong audience reportedly flown in from all over the world to attend the ceremony at Macau. All the winners, except Farah and Jason, were present at the event.

In the technical awards category, ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ swept through the award function with Ballu Saluja bagging Best Editing award, Nitin Chandrakant Desai got the Best Art Direction award, Neeta Lulla for Best Costume Design.

Resul Pokkutty, who made history by winning an Oscar for his work in Slumdog Millionaire , bagged the Best Sound Recording Award for Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini with Amrit.

The Hrithik Roshan  and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer ‘Jodhaa Akbar won maximum awards at The International  Indian Film Academy(IIFA) on Saturday in Macau.

Double Oscar award winner A R Rahman won the Best Music Director award for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, Javed Akhtar grabbed the trophy for Best Lyrics category for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’.

Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai -Bachchan got the prestigious Special Award for Global Impact. Abhishekh Bachchan won the Best Comedian award for Dostana.

Shreya Ghoshal  got the Best Female Playback singer for ‘Singh is Kinng’

Jason West for ‘Rock On!’ grabbed best Cinematographer award, while Best Choreography award went to Farah Khan for her song Desi girl from ‘Dostana’.

Yesteryear superstar Rajesh Khanna was honored with the Life Time Achievement Award at the function.
